Dear blog,

I am so sorry that I have neglected you.  You are probably starving for attention, and posts.  I did not mean to totally neglect you.  You see, I have been busy - but I know that that's no excuse.  But I feel as though I need to explain myself.

First of all, I went on vacation.  That's what started the whole thing.  I forgot to have someone tend to you while I was gone, as I had someone water the forest of plants in my apartment, I should have done the same for you.  My apologies.   I went to Morocco in June, which isn't the best time to visit as it gets very hot in Morocco (who would ever guess that the summers would be hot?!).  But I have plenty of pictures - but please don't ask me for them as I haven't had time to sleep let alone edit and upload pictures.  However, as a preview, you can see my pictures from Casablanca, which was definitely the least exciting of the cities I visited.

Secondly, when I came back, I came full steam ahead into second year of residency - literally (I landed at 10PM and went to work at 6AM).  It's been busy, to say the least.  However, it's definitely been fun. I get to do c-sections nearly everyday.  I get to supervise people and feel as though I actually know something (whether I do or not is another question).  And, I got to deliver my first set of twins (via c-section, unfortunately)!

And yes, lack of sleep.  Because I have been so busy (and yet to unpack completely from my trip), I am suffering from lack of sleep.  Because of this, I have prioritized sleep over you, dear blog. However, things look up and I am hoping to nurture you back to health.  Just give me a few more days, please.

Sincerely,
yenniet

I'm still here

Yeah, yeah, I've been MIA.  I know that that's one of the worst things you could do in blogger world.  Whatever. I have a good excuse.  Will explain later.

And when did Michael Jackson die?  Dude, do I live in a cave?

Blog style update

I found a nice blog template that I like, however, it requires some troubleshooting. So, for now, that nice side bar - all the links, archives, photos, etc - will be on the bottom, as a footer. Tell me if you like the new color, layout (with footer as sidebar), etc. I still have some tinkering to do with it.

Ode to Tufts

I just realized that my blog has the same colors as Tufts.  I never really liked blue and brown, but apparently but subconscious did.

ROYGBIV, Part II

So, I've changed the colors again because the previous colors were giving me a headache (and I thought perhaps it was giving my loyal reader a headache as well). Enjoy! Hopefully this one will last more than a week.

ROYGBIV

I've changed the color scheme of the blog! Tell me how you like it, and if you don't, suggest some new changes!

What's going on?

It's been a long while since I have posted and I apologize to my loyal fan for that. But you've got to understand that I've become the laziest person in the world. I work hard at the hospital so when I come home, I don't want to do anything.

Here is my daily schedule: get up at 5 am, at the hospital at 5:30, work until about 5 or 6 pm, come home, eat dinner, watch a little tv, start yawning, fall asleep by 10. Yes, that is my life. My life is compressed into the 3 or so hours between coming home and falling asleep.

I have some insights about medicine and being an almost-doctor. However, I can't think of any of them now. Will post them as they come back to me.

New and Improved!!!

...soon.

I'm contemplating a change to the look of this blog (in a few weeks, after all the madness). If you have any suggestions, or would offer up some help, it would be greatly appreciated!

something you may not have noticed

i added some sort of site counter on this web site, stealthily and without anyone's knowledge. why i didn't mention it before, i have no idea. it's accessible to anyone, if you are curious. just go down to the way way way bottom of this page and click on the rainbow box. there, you can see how many (or how little) people few this site.

oh, so the reason why i bring this up is because i just noticed that they have a time zone thingy on there. i decided to click on it and there are some odd things happening. first the expected is that a lot of people from the west coast (presumably berkeley and my family) are viewing this blog. however, what's not so expected is that some people, besides myself, view the blog from the east coast. what is even more unexpected is that there are some people who belong to neither one of those coasts that view. even somewhere in the pacific and somewhere in alaska! how amazing. please, if you're one of those people, i'd love to hear from you. i'd like to consider myself intercontinental, like the airline, but with an "inter" in front. totally random, my apologies. or, if you're amused, thank you and i will take a bow.

i'm in california now. enjoying the sun, somewhat because i haven't been outside all day. i've been working on grnat and scholarship applications. if anyone knows how i can get some money for a medical student doing a public health project i'm doing in vietnam this summer in regards to hiv/aids, please please please tell me. short of becoming a subway musician (for which i would somehow manage lose money), i am open to ideas.

off i go. to ride my bike to the high school to drop off my brother's lunch (how wonderful of a sister i am!) and to go to the "village" - a tiny little shopping area in my hometown for those unfamiliar with the wonderful ups and downs of castro valley.

new look

well, not a totally new look, but i added books i'm reading to the sidebar, in case anyone's interested. they're not all too interesting and rather nerdy books if you ask me. another book that i'd like to get on that list is stiff. it came out last year and its subtitle is something like "the lives of dead people." it's basically a book about what happens to us, physically, after we die. i'm fascinated just by the topic itself. i'm looking forward to anatomy next semester, if it's not wildly apparent already.

so, thanksgiving was fun... sorta. laid back. went to a family friend's home for dinner with a classmate and spent the rest of the weekend wasting time and trying to spend as little time working on a paper as possible. i was hoping to have it done by now, but i'm hopeless. utterly hopeless.

who read this blog? i'm just interested. i know that some of my friends read it, but who? email me or leave a comment, just so i know. i don't even know why anyone would read this blog. it's so out there. it's really about nothing and everything at the same time. it's about politics, my lack of social skills, random stuff. it's a tiny peek into my mind. when i say tiny, i mean tiny because for the past few weeks, i've been jumbling up my words so badly when i'm speaking because my mind speeds by at a million miles a minute. for instance, i used the word "hurted" the other day. what has come over me?! ok, now i'm rambling again. back to my feeble attempts at writing a paper.

Ah, more regular posts! I'm trying to get into a rhythm here! Oh, talking about rhythms and patterns and such, I'm trying to get back into working out. I'll tell everyone out there that I didn't gain the "Freshman 15" but rather the "Graduating 15." Living at home = bad for your health in so many ways. First, you eat junk food. Secondly, you don't exercise. And third, it's bad for your mental health! So yeah, I go to the Chinatown YMCA, which is interesting. Actually, it helps me with my workout somewhat because some of the workout machines face the basketball courts so instead of counting down the minutes or miles, you're looking at the teenagers play basketball. It distracts me and therefore, I tend to feel better when I'm running or whatever. Who knew that I could feel good when I run, eh?

Other than that, no big details. We have two big tests on Thursday, so I'm studying for that. Woke up at 6:30 this morning and won't be home til midnight. That will probably be my schedule for the next few days, so I'm having fun fun fun! Ah, please someone figure out how to put comments on this darn thing, or even a hit count, if anyone is reading this at all (which I'm sincerely starting to think, though it's not totally unexpected because I didn't tell anyone that I had a web site).

So, this time, no weird Boston stories or anything. Another day.

HI! This is a new blog... I'm new to this, so forgive me if I know very little, or anything at all for that matter. What is this page? Mainly so my friends, and a few strangers, can view snippets of my life. I wouldn't say it's very interesting, but hey, it's my life and I love it!

Come again soon!
